Working Angels 102

Working Angel 102

The length, breadth and depth of local to global connection that could happen from reflecting and acting on how the Seraphim are organized for service coupled with goal-setting derived from spiritual reflection could create a real shift.
It’s time.

There is much more work angels do beyond guardianship, as stated before. The book tells us we’re on a problematic little sphere whose planetary history has suffered heavy setbacks since its inception due to rebellion and default. Yet there is still a predictable and desirable unfolding taking place.

In section six of Paper 50, they give us a brief outline of the typical epochs on an evolutionary world like ours. It looks like we’re still at a fairly barbaric level, just past securing food and relative safety for much of the planet, and are now in what they call the ‘material comfort era’.  This is a time when the desire for personal comfort creates a dynamic between necessity and luxury and is often characterized by ‘tyranny, intolerance, gluttony, and drunkeness’. Eventually, they say that the stronger, more truth-loving elements subjugate the weaker, pleasure seeking ones and the global quest for knowledge and wisdom begins in earnest. Then follow increasingly enlightened epochs where the worldwide reach into philosophy, brotherhood and spirituality culminate in an age of ‘light and life’.

Right away, we know we have a lot of work to do. We’re given clues as to what needs to happen at this time to move it along, though, in section 6 of Paper 52. Revelation will play an important part by creating a deeper, more personal understanding of the role of religion as it shifts from its emphasis on outer, creedal alignment to inner spiritual experience–and in the living of the essential gospel of the Master. They call this ‘the pressure from above’.

And revelation will be important in directing all the individual and group motivation resulting from that realignment, to inaugurate a more progressive era, too. The revelators tell us of the need for more social empathy through the multiplication of multi-linguists and by cultural exposure through travel, business, and competitive sports. We also need more exchange across racial and national boundaries in art and literature so that ‘each race becomes familiar with the thought of all races’ to overcome the ignorance that breeds suspicion.

There needs to be a new and heightened awareness of ethics across racial, religious and political divides, too—with the deeper spiritual connection that reveals what is transcendental and shared between all people–so that brotherhood can become more valued.

Then, in section 6 of Paper 114, we’re given a really vital piece that may help us align efforts like these with the work of the angels, which would accomplish several things. First, it gives us an idea about how to practically enjoin the interconnected areas governing human life that organically cross divisive boundaries. And secondly, it gives us a lot of stimulus for thinking about how to organize ourselves in our own service projects to accomplish that. We need to examine how the Seraphim are organized for planetary service, though.

There are twelve groups of Master Seraphim at work on our world. Two of those groups, the Epochal Angels and the Angels of Superhuman Ministry, do work that is more abstractly angelic that we wouldn’t know how to align to. But the other ten are much more relatable and will provide the foundation for how this site is organized for posting goals. To describe them, I’ll be paraphrasing 114:6. They are:

  • The Angels of Progress, who foster the evolutionary progress of successive social ages and the inherent progressive trend of evolutionary creatures. They ‘labor incessantly to make things what they ought to be’.
  • The Religious Guardians, also called ‘The Angels of the Churches’, who contend for that which is and has been. They attempt to maintain the ideals that have survived from one age into another, translating from one generation to another the imperishable values of the old and passing forms into the new, and therefore less stabilized, patterns of thought and conduct.
  • The Angels of Nation Life, also called ‘The Angels of the Trumpets’, who are the directors of the political performances and the overcontrol of international relations on the planet. It is through them that ‘the Most Highs rule in the kingdom of men’.
  • The Angels of the Races, who work for the conservation of the evolutionary races, regardless of their political entanglements and religious groupings. There are the remnants of nine human races which have combined into the people of modern times.
  • The Angels of the Future, the ‘projection angels’ working to forecast future ages and plan for the realization of better things. They are the architects of successive eras.
  • The Angels of Enlightenment, dedicated to the fostering of planetary education and occupied with mental and moral training as it concerns individuals, families, groups, schools, communities, nations and whole races.
  • The Angels of Health, assigned to assist mortal agencies dedicated to the promotion of health and the prevention of disease.
  • The Home Seraphim, dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the home, the basic institution of human civilization.
  • The Angels of Industry, who are concerned with fostering industrial development and improving economic conditions on the planet.
  • The Angels of Diversion, who foster play, humor and rest. They seek to ‘uplift man’s recreational diversions’ and promote the more profitable utilization of human leisure.

Each one of these categories could naturally invite goals pertaining to the kinds of developments we’re told need to happen to move us forward. If the focus were on ethical awareness and training alone in each area it would be completely transformative. Just that! But we don’t have to be limited at all in terms of how we end up interacting with these categories. Imagine the possibilities..

Service projects based on real ideals pertaining to the near future, budding philosophies, goals pertaining to the restatement of old truths for new generations, ethical education for people wanting to go into public service, the inter-racial exchange of science and literature, projects for envisioning more conservative, benign and efficient uses of natural resources, educational projects for all ages and income levels, aid to health workers, resources for stressed-out parents, projects to nurture the deepening philanthropic trends in industry, and goals to help people deeply relax or just have fun!

The length, breadth and depth of local to global connection that could happen from reflecting and acting on how the Seraphim are organized for service coupled with goal-setting derived from spiritual reflection could create a real shift. It’s time.
